When was the last time I wrote you? Thursday?
We taught this family on Thursday night. They are really nice but the husband CAN TALK. And he did. For almost 40 minutes straight. He mostly talked about Catholicism and how it’s really a misconception that they worship saints; they just revere and respect them. And then he bashed on Jehovah’s Witnesses and tried to get us to join in, but we just kept saying, “Well, all we know is that the Book of Mormon is true.” It was entertaining.
We went to this meeting on Friday for trainees and trainers where President makes you write one thing you love about your companion and one thing you want to change and he reads all the ones from the trainers to the trainees and the ones from the trainees to the trainers, but it’s all anonymous. It was entertaining to say the least.
Saturday we did a lot of missionary work.
Sunday, J 2’s kids came to church but neither of the parents did (a member gave the kids a ride). The kids loved it. The parents loved it for their kids, but less for themselves. S also came. We taught Relief Society and how the ward can reach the goal of 75 baptisms for the year. I was shocked when I heard that that was the ward’s baptismal goal. Hopefully having a goal will help the members be more involved.
Monday was not our P-day. We cleaned out the Boy Scout’s shed at the church for service. It was one of the most fun things I have ever done in my life.
Yesterday was insane and busy with not a lot of missionary related things, which is kind of frustrating. We went to the hospital as a district to sing to and visit a lady in the ward, Hna B, who had a stroke on Sunday. She LOVES the missionaries and feeds us all the time. She is such a cute old lady. Her family asked us to come see her and sing to her. She can’t move the right side of her body and can’t speak. It’s really sad.
We taught S last night. It was a crowded lesson because J invited his friend H, who is the elders’ investigator, so the elders came and we had a lesson with S so there were 8 people in a very small kitchen. We taught tithing. It was a horrible lesson. S decided that he had maybe he had made the decision to get baptized too quickly. It was devastating. We had to leave in order to get home on time, but we are teaching him tonight and we’ll see how it goes. I’m nervous.
This morning we went to the temple. Then we went to a park and fed ducks and tried to lasso turtles. No one got any. But then again, I think we were mostly trying to not lasso them because it would be really mean if we actually lassoed them.
I love you. A whole, whole lot.
