Senor Don Gato Was a Cat

The other night, Pokie and I began reminiscing about our respective childhoods. The conversation turned towards songs that our parents sang us when we were little. We discovered that our parents liked to sing us strange and somewhat morbid songs like these:

…about the love lives of wooden figures:

…about the War of 1812:

…about a cat brought back to life by the smell of fish:

…and this one about a man who laughs when his fiancée dies.

We even found out that both of our parents liked this song about a man that runs over his pet with a lawnmower.

I’m glad my parents weren’t the only ones with an offbeat sense of humor.
