IBM made a computer to compete on Jeopardy!
I don’t know why exactly, but this is pretty upsetting to me. Jeopardy is hallowed in my mind, something pure, never to be tampered with.
Designing a computer to compete on the world’s best quiz show is just wrong. What fun is watching a computer spit out answers? I’ll tell you: none.
Granted, IBM’s computer, dubbed Watson, will be going against the biggest winners in Jeopardy’s history: Brad Rutter and my boy, Ken Jennings.
Still, I think it is a bit of an unfair match-up.
What’s next? Will Watson be telling us the answer to the Universe is 42?
